N95′s V21.0.016 Hits NSU

Nokia N95′s new firmware version is available now for download via Nokia Software Updater, The new V21 version contains dramatic changes including: Flash Lite 3 and Widget Support, with lots of bug-fixes.

In order to have the new firmware installed on your N95, you need to download and install Nokia Software Updater on your PC.

The process of updating my N95 is done, but frankly, I’m not 100% happy about the new firmware, for instance, Because till now the N95 doesn’t support User Data Preservation, The Update will “As Always” delete everything on the phone memory, and will ruin most installed applications on your device, The first problem is easily solved by backing up your phone memory, but the second one’s solution is a bit pain, which to install every app you had again, something that’ll keep me busy during the day!

But still, I got Flash Lite, Viewing videos on my N95 is really amusing, guess I won’t be using emtube no more, but the only problem about video viewing is power usage, My N95′s battery lasted for a record breaking 3-4 hours! so it’s advisable to view videos only when your N95 is plugged into the wall.

New dead sexy colour will be released for the N95-1, But those lucky Japanese people, Not only do they get good sushi, but an exclusive blue N95 colour!
The Brand new Blue N95s will be sold exclusively via Softbank, A Japanese carrier.

So, I’d totally appreciate it if one of my Japanese readers bought the new blue N95, Ripped the back off, and sent it to me via mail “E-mail me for the address” :p

Nokia, Please universalize your covers, right now there’s blue N95s in Japan, Black and Pink N95s in Italy, Red N95s in the US and Hollow N95s in Egypt “That means that they’re not sold here, or by other words, Banned!“

N-Gage First Access Ending With A Game Giveaway

The so called First Access of N-gage is ending on march 27th according to N-Gage Blog, No one’s sure whether they’ll release the final version directly after that, and the end of the first access period means that Nokia no longer supports the first access N-gage app, and that all you’ve done raising your N-Gage points and your saved games will be struck by a tsunami once you install the full release of N-Gage “In other words, it’ll be gone!”, Which is something really annoying, I don’t care about the points, but I worked hard playing creatures of the deep, and I certainly don’t want to lose that data.

I almost forgot to write about the giveaway part, I’m sure that made you rethink reading this post, Nokia wants to reward all N-gagers out there, for trying out the service, and If you fill in the survey “Subject:N-Gage ofcourse, you’ll recieve by e-mail an activation code for an upcoming Mile High Pinball game” and 1000 community points.

I know I’m very late on reporting this, But John from Telefon-Treff.de posted pictures showing the N95, E51, E90 along with other phones fully supporting the upcoming 16GB MicroSDHC card from Sandisk, which adds itself on the list of why N95-1 “Original N95″ is better than N95 8GB “With no MicroSD port, N95 8GB users are not benefiting from the solo Sandisk MicroSDHC race!”

Over at MobyMemory, Online prices for this baby is down to £29.99 , which is approximately equal to 60$, so now seems to be the perfect time to shop for the 8GB MicroSDHC!

Mirage Money: First Accelerometer-powered 3D Game

Fadi Chehimi and Paul Coulton from Forum Nokia Blogs succeeded in developing the first 3D Game that is fully controlled by the accelerometer chip, which is something Huge in compared with the first basic accelerometer game “Accelerinvaders“, And is one step closer to having professional accelerometer N-gage games.

The goal of the game is to collect as many gold and silver flying-in-the air coins as you can by moving your phone and tilting it, There is two choices for the game background, a virtual background, or a real camera shot background.

Black N82 Officially Announced

Today, Nokia released this press release announcing officially the much rumored Black N82, which adds a touch of elegancy to this camera powerhouse, It’ll ship within weeks and will be on sale for 400€ before taxes and subsidies.

The press release also mentioned some info about the ability of the N82 to upload videos directly to youtube which is currently not available for N82 users “Correct me if I’m wrong”, So could this be a hint

from Nokia that the N82 is expecting a firmware update real soon?!, could be!!

If you’re not familiar with the N82, The N82 is an S60 V3 Device, featuring a whopping 5 Megapixel Camera “Carl Zeiss Lens” with Xenon Flash, It also features WiFi, Built-in GPS Chip, 3.5G Connectivity and an expandable MicroSD Port.

Why I Think Nokia Should Offer Paid Upgrades to S60 V3 FP2

Nokia is regarded as the largest cellphone-manufacturing company in the world, but it’s after purchase phone support doesn’t match it’s elite role in the cellphone market.
Some phones get tens of firmware updates (like the N73 that got updated to v4.0808.4.2.2), some get frequent updates ( like the N95-1), and some don’t get any updates at all ( like the N95-3, and that’s pissing off a lot of people for example Ricky Cadden).

It’s very clear that Nokia’s main goal is achieving the highest profit, no one can’t blame them for that, But sometimes the customer is deeply hurt by such policy, Their way of handling Phone releases and updates really prove the fact, like releasing N95-2 “N95 8GB” in the US, and few months after that announcing it’s US variant, Couldn’t just Nokia announce both phones at the same time?! “If they need the extra 10,000 unit sale, maybe they should think of releasing Egypt Variant! yes, Egypt variant Nseries devices with no GPS on board, but that’s not the point here”

Nokia doesn’t seem to upgrade all the specs in one phone, it gradually updates their specs in each phone to keep customers hungry for more, and subsequently selling more phones, That doesn’t mean that Nokia’s lineup is an oldy one, They have got the best equipped devices, but Nokia is capable of creating devices much better than last announcement’s phones “N96, N78″.

Nokia’s new firmware releases rarely have anything new, and most of the firmware updates are for bug fixes only unlike other manufacturers, I can’t believe I’m saying this, But Apple really leads the market on after-purchase support, each new firmware version of the iPhone has lots of new tweaks, updates and tons of applications and options, If we take Microsoft for example, when it released new Zune models with brand new Menu structure, it updated previous Zunes, and didn’t keep ‘em with their sluggish menu, And that’s what I want Nokia to do, to offer the opportunity of expanding the possibilities and performance of current S60 V3 FP1 devices by enabling paid upgrades to S60 V3 FP2, Which is said to have major new options, Graphic interface and most importantly, Better usage of power.

Offering a Paid option of upgrading to S60 V3 FP2 for Users will be one hell of a give and take deal, Nokia will profit from the increasing number of customers that don’t afford to get the N96, but can pay an extra dime for that new S60 Version.

Finally, Don’t expect to hear about this from Nokia, They are not going to do such procedure, It’s just fantasies by me

New N95-1 Firmware Expected This Week

Guys over at Symbian Freak were informed by trusted sources that we’ll be expecting a new firmware version for the N95-1 “v21.0.016″, And they already acquired the change log!, It includes massive changes including Flash lite 3 support, which means that you’re going to easily play any video or flash content directly from the Web Browser, Other changes include Widgets support and bug fixes.

The Firmware is expected to be released later this week, In order to update your N95′s Firmware, you should have Nokia Software Updater installed on your PC.

The only negative thing is that auto rotation was’t added to the firmware, just like the N95 8GB, though Nokia should add auto rotation for all accelerometer powered devices.

N95 8GB NAM Released!

At last, The Nokia N95 8GB NAM “N95-4″ got released in the US, allowing customers to access the web via 3G HSDPA 850/1900MHz Chip “Technically for AT&T network only”.
Unlike the N95-3, There is no significant change in the phone specs other than the 3G Chip, It’s available now for 799$.

Andrew from the Nokia blog already received his N95-4 and uploaded some cool unboxing pics.

Americans, Use your N95-4 wisely, and don’t get mad if this phone doesn’t get any fimrware updates within the first year of release, The N95-3 “Original N95 with major battery ,RAM fixes and US 3G Support” was released on September and during that time, it received one Minor upgrade!!
